Green Building Certification Program Offered by
Greensboro Builders Association
July 14-15, 2008

The new NAHB educational designation for green building is CGP, or Certified Green Professional. With a large group of builders and remodelers interested in learning more and becoming certified, GBA has partnered with Alamance Community College to provide the two-day course. Incorporating green building principles into new homes and remodels can give the homeowner lower energy costs and higher value in the home. Green homes can also provide lower maintenance and better indoor air quality.

David and Leslie Millsaps and other members of the Professional Remodelers Council toured Delta Faucet’s national headquarters in Indianapolis on April 30. Of great interest was the R&D facility where the scientific and creative process of bringing new products to market actually occurs. The spring meeting was hosted by Joe and Mark Gradison of Gradison Building Corporation.

Marking five decades of exemplary leadership in the building industry, the Greensboro Builders Association kicked off its 50th anniversary with a Gala held at Grandover Resort and Conference Center. From a group of 24 builders and 14 associates, the group has grown to over 800 members by providing the best in industry advocacy, education, community service, networking and professional growth.

NAHB Professional Remodelers Council held its semiannual meeting in Greensboro, hosted by DLM Builders, Inc. Greensboro Builders Association welcomed the group for its first day of meetings, providing conference space at its headquarters on Westgate Center Drive. Other meeting highlights included a behind the scenes tour of the Proximity Hotel, of particular interest to the remodeling industry group, with emphasis on the LEED certification attained by this cutting edge property

DLM Builders, Inc. will participate in the 10th Annual Tour of Remodeled Homes with two tour sites. Professional Remodelers Council Meets in April

David and Leslie Millsaps attended the biannual meeting of the Professional Remodelers Council in Mesa, AZ April 12-15, 2007. The PRC is comprised of 16 member companies from around the country, who meet with one group member as host company, for the purpose of critiquing business systems and processes. The group meets under the auspices of the National Association of Home Builders 20 Club program. DLM Builders, Inc. has been a member since 2003 and will be hosting the group in October.

Raising Roofs is a partnership of Habitat and the Greater Greensboro Builders Association. Since 2003, hundreds of builders, suppliers and subcontractors have built 32 homes in three different one-week builds.

This year’s event – October 9-13, 2006 – broke new ground by adding Habitat’s Home Repair projects to the effort. Since the Home Repair program began in 2004, the team has made essential repairs resulting in warmer, safer and drier homes for nearly 50 low-income families in Greensboro.

DLM Builders staff worked with a partially disabled homeowner to repair and renovate her bath, adding a low-curb shower enclosure and grab bars, and improving access for use with her walker. Home Repair projects continue throughout the year.

GGBA’s Remodelor’s™ Council proudly presents the Ninth annual Tour of Remodeled Homes August 18 – 20 from 12 – 5 pm each day. This citywide tour of recently remodeled homes is the perfect way to see the very best in professional remodeling projects.

Tickets are $10 per person which allows admittance to all 13 homes on the Tour. Tickets can be purchased at any of the homes on the Tour as well as the GGBA office in advance of the event. Attendees have the opportunity to see beforehand photos of the home and see firsthand the enhancements and improvements that can be made through a professional remodeling project. Remodelors are available at the homes to discuss the project and share insight into tackling any variety of remodeling and renovation projects.
